Features: Although "Farewell Jiabegou" is largely based on real prototypes and true stories, they are still works of art, novels—narrative nonfiction. As an artistic creation, due to the long-term concealment of the events themselves and the shock brought by the revelation of the truth, as well as the particularity and uniqueness of the source material, the work based on the Jiabegou incident finds it difficult to avoid adopting the form of narrative nonfiction. It cannot even escape the use of journalistic techniques such as interviews and retellings. It must be admitted that half of the impact of this work comes from the astonishing facts at its core. However, without the creative reconstruction by the author, it would absolutely not have achieved the strong it possesses now.
