Features: This book is not just a collection of articles; it is also a process. It not only compiles the writings of over ten authors but also represents the ideals and aspirations of these authors and their supporting teachers for the future development of social work in China. The authors of this collection are all social work educators from Chinese universities. Although they have been influenced by foreign social work education, they start from the practical experience of China and approach the current social issues in the country (including rural poverty, the elderly, women, youth, etc.) from different theoretical perspectives, exploring how to utilize social work knowledge to assist in solving these problems. The authors in the book all adopt qualitative research methods in the social sciences, delving into communities and engaging with people's lives, making their findings rich and diverse. In addition to institutional analysis, they carefully listen to the voices of the people and understand the various causes of social issues in Chinese society from their perspective. Moreover, they show us the challenges faced by the development of social work in China within its domestic context, as well as the limitations of imported social work theories and models and the urgency of establishing local social work knowledge. These papers represent an initial attempt at social work research and the development of local social work knowledge in China, reflecting the authors' passion for social work and their concern for socially marginalized groups.
