Features: Humanity's quest for knowledge about the universe is always filled with infinite longing. Ancient myths, mysterious religions, and dreamlike science fiction all express humanity's attempts to explain the universe, but no one can tell us the whole truth about it. That's why we have geniuses like Newton, Darwin, Einstein, and Hawking, who tried to find ways for humanity to understand the universe. They succeeded. Because of them, we humans can today know more and better about the universe. The author of A Brief History of Time, Stephen Hawking, has revealed how the universe was born, but no book like The Evolving Universe has yet emerged with such an exciting and comprehensive description of where the universe is heading. Precisely for this reason, this book has been successfully published without much fanfare. The second edition has two changes: first, the author has added some new content, and second, the version, cover, and design have been completely revamped. The universe is evolving, so what isn't? Naturally, The Evolving Universe has evolved more than the previous edition. The proposition that the universe is evolving is based on the latest achievements in contemporary cosmology, physics, chemistry, biology, anthropology, ecology, futurology, interdisciplinary science, and philosophy. Darwin's theory of biological evolution pioneered the concept of evolution and is widely known. It views primitive single-celled organisms as the origin of humanity. However, in reality, the origin of humanity should be traced back to the moment of the universe's creation 14 billion years ago. First came the birth of the universe, then protons, atoms, stars, galaxies, life, and humans. This is an evolutionary process of the spacetime-quantum continuum. The evolution of life is merely a matter of the universe evolving for over a hundred billion years. What does evolution mean? Why is it said that the universe is evolving? How many generations has the universe's evolution gone through? Why does the universe evolve? What is the driving force? What is humanity's position and role in the universe? Is the universe's evolution coming to an end? Where is it heading? All these related propositions are explored in this book. To further ask about the significance and value of exploring these questions, as well as their philosophical and humanistic implications, is another proposition and goal this book aims to achieve.
