Features: Today, China's online media, like traditional media, also shoulders the social responsibility and historical mission of disseminating news truthfully, swiftly, and profoundly to China and the world, as well as reflecting public sentiment and guiding public opinion. It was our collective efforts that brought together the economists and journalists, making the successful conclusion of this forum possible. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the China Center for Economic Research, Peking University, the forum "Outlook on the Chinese Economy" was organized by the China Center for Economic Research, in collaboration with Sina.com and the International Finance News. It ran from December 1, 2003, to December 24, completing over three weeks, with a total of 10 thematic discussions. The forum was opened by Mr. Long Yongtu, Secretary-General of the Boao Forum. Over 23 renowned domestic economists, including Lin Jiafu, Yi Gang, Fan Gang, Zhang Weiying, and Hai Wen, successively engaged in dialogues in the guest video interview center of Sina.com, reviewing the key economic issues of 2003 and looking ahead to the economic and policy trends of 2004. They conducted extensive and in-depth discussions on hot and challenging issues in economic life, covering 10 topics such as opening-up, monetary policy, the securities market, the "three rural" issues, pension security, healthcare reform, regional economy, the education market, the fiscal and tax system, as well as the development strategy and direction of China's economic reform. Ten years ago, when the China Center for Economic Research was founded in modest conditions, it was composed of only six returned economic scholars who gathered in Langrun Garden with the dream of serving their motherland. Today, they are commemorating their birthday, concerned about China's future, and wishing for the sustainable development of China's economy.
