Features: Professor Zhang Li is deeply passionate about pattern art and even more so about teaching pattern design. Her enthusiasm for patterns stems from life itself. Amidst her busy administrative duties as a department head, she continues to engage in academic research and exploration, uncovering the remnants of folk and ethnic art, constantly presenting new achievements to her audience and students. This spirit and approach are exactly what we demand and hope for. She has been enthusiastic about collecting various patterns and conducting in-depth research since her student days. In recent years, she has further explored the cultural design of pattern spaces and adopted digital technology to study the application concepts of Chinese folk and ethnic art. She emphasizes the effective integration of contemporary textile and clothing design with folk and ethnic art, ensuring that the cultural essence and connotations of traditional pattern art are inherited and promoted. Researching, understanding, and recognizing patterns, as well as creating and designing pattern space culture, are key features of this book. Patterns are not just a decorative "vocabulary"; they exist in clothing, food, housing, and transportation, and pattern art has become a part of the broader framework of fine arts. This book is structured into three main parts: Introduction, Fundamentals, and Applications. It focuses on discussing the origin and development of patterns, as well as their design and application, in a visually engaging and progressive manner, particularly emphasizing the role and importance of patterns in practical applications. The Application section is divided into five aspects: Pattern Design in CIS Planning, Pattern Design in Architectural and Environmental Art Design, Pattern Design in Graphic and Packaging Art Design, Pattern Design in Textile Art Design, and Pattern Design in Fashion Art. Another key focus of this book is the rendering and variation of floral patterns and their applications. Most of the pattern designs in the book are assignments from students of the Art and Design program at the Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts in recent years.
