Features: The province is surrounded by mountains on the east, south, and west sides, with hills in the middle and a plain in the north in the form of a basin. Mountains and hills account for about 70% of the total area. The eastern part of the province extends from north to south as the remnant ranges of Huangshan, Huaiyu Mountain, and Wuyi Mountain, generally trending northeast-southwest. Wuyi Mountain stretches across the border between Jiangxi and Fujian, with an average elevation of 1,000–1,500 meters. Its main peak, Huanggang Mountain, is located at the border of the two provinces, with an elevation of 2,158 meters, making it the highest peak in the province. The southern part belongs to the Nanling Mountains, including Jiulianshan and Dagengling. Dagengling is one of the Five Mountains of Nanling, and the Xiaomeiguan pass in the mountains serves as a vital transportation hub connecting the north and south. The western part of the province has mountains to the north, such as Jiuling Mountain and Mufu Mountain, and to the south, there is Luoxiao Mountain. Lushan, located on the remnant range of Mufu Mountain, is a renowned place for rest and tourism. Luoxiao Mountain is situated at the border of Hunan and Jiangxi, with Jinggangshan in the middle being a famous "cradle of revolution." The Poyang Lake Plain, located in the northern part of the province, is also known as the Yuzhang Plain or Poyang Basin. It is an alluvial and lacustrine plain, part of the middle and lower Yangtze River Plain, covering an area of about 20,000 square kilometers. It is characterized by intricate river channels and numerous lakes, earning it the reputation of being the "land of fish and rice." Jiangxi has over 2,400 rivers, most of which belong to the Poyang Lake basin. Major rivers originate from the bordering mountains. Poyang Lake covers an area of 3,583 square kilometers, making it the largest freshwater lake in China, though its water level varies significantly between flood and drought periods. It receives water from the east, south, and west sides and flows northward into the Yangtze River at Hukou. Shizhong Mountain and Xiaogushan control the river mouth, historically serving as a military stronghold and a famous scenic area. Jiangxi has a long history and is renowned for its "abundant natural resources and outstanding talent." The province is rich in tourism resources. There are over 400 open scenic areas and tourist attractions in the province, including the "World Cultural Landscape" Lushan listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the China Excellent Tourism City Jinggangshan, the birthplace of Taoism, Longhu Mountain, and the "Three Pure Mountains" in Jiangnan, among six national scenic areas. There are also more than 20 provincial-level scenic areas such as Wugong Mountain and Zelin Lake; three national-level nature reserves, including the Poyang Lake migratory bird sanctuary; three national-level historical and cultural cities, namely Nanchang, Jingdezhen, and Ganzhou; 18 national-level forest parks, such as Jing'an Sanzhao Lun; 24 national key cultural relics protection units, including Lushan Donglin Temple, Jiujiang Nengren Temple, Yunju Mountain Zhenru Temple, Qingyuan Mountain Jingju Temple, and Longhu Mountain Tianshi Mansion; and recent tourism festivals and activities such as the Lushan International Tourism Festival, Longhu Mountain Taoist Culture Festival, Dayu Meiguan Ancient Trail Plum Blossom Festival, and Ganzhou Ningcheng Culture Festival, along with a series of well-established tourism routes.
