Patient's question:
During chemotherapy, I have a severe headache and don't want to eat dinner. Platelets increase significantly during chemotherapy. Do doctors always experience this symptom again during chemotherapy? Can it be cured?Doctor's answer:
The criteria for leukemia remission are defined as follows: a hematologic remission is achieved when the percentage of original lymphoblasts is below 5%; a cytogenetic remission is determined when the chromosomal status becomes negative; and a molecular remission is defined when the gene status becomes negative. Currently, even if molecular remission is achieved, leukemia cannot be considered cured because leukemia cells above 0.0001 cannot be detected. At this stage, a large number of leukemia cells still remain in the bone marrow, and chemotherapy must continue.
