What are the types of cerebral palsy in children?

Patient's question:

When the child was born, there was a difficult delivery and oxygen deprivation. Later, it was discovered that the child had poor coordination in their limbs and less flexible eyes compared to other children. After a thorough examination at the hospital, they suspected that the child had cerebral palsy, and we were all in despair. What kind of help is needed: What are the types of pediatric cerebral palsy?

Doctor's answer:

Atonia (hypotonia): characterized by decreased muscle tone, limbs appear flaccid with minimal voluntary movements. In the supine position, the limbs are in an abducted and externally rotated position, resembling a flipped frog. The head cannot be lifted when lying supine. It is often confused with muscle disease-induced hypotonia, but atonia can be distinguished by the presence of tendon reflexes. Most cases transition to severe pain type or dystonic type after infancy. A single child may exhibit symptoms of 2-3 of these types. Severe pain type and dystonic type are commonly present simultaneously. Only a very small number of cases remain unclassified.
