The Comprehensive Collection of Purple Treasures on Laryngeal Diseases (Houzheng Quanshou Zizhen Ji) is a specialized work on laryngeal diseases published in the mid-Qing Dynasty (1840). Since the specialization of laryngeal medicine began in the Yuan Dynasty, coupled with China's vast territory, various schools of specialized works on laryngeal diseases emerged. The authorship is attributed to Yanshan Dou's original text, with a continuation by Yunyang Zhu Xiangyu. It is considered a representative work of the Yanshan Dou school, which was renowned for acupuncture and surgery during the Yuan and Ming dynasties, and was compiled and edited by the Qing Dynasty scholar Zhu Xiangyu. The book is divided into two volumes. The first volume preserves famous formulas for treating laryngeal abscesses and sores from the early Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as effective small needle knives and topical treatments such as blowing, applying, rubbing, and powdering medications, reflecting a rich array of laryngeal treatments. The second volume introduces 72 types of laryngeal and tongue diseases, with detailed explanations of their locations, appearances, diagnostic key points, and basic formulas, presented in a concise and illustrated manner. This book is one of the earlier specialized works on 72 laryngeal diseases and holds a certain position in the history of laryngeal medicine. It serves as an important reference for the study of laryngeal diseases.
