The original book was in English and was very popular with readers, having been reprinted 15 times in just a few years. It has now been introduced by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press in China, adapted and translated from the original book, and published as a bilingual English-Chinese dictionary. The original book was written for students who had just begun learning English, while the new edition is suitable for a broader audience of English beginners in China, as well as readers with elementary and intermediate English proficiency. To meet the needs of Chinese students, some content has been adapted, all entries have been provided with English phonetic transcriptions, and the scope of definitions has been appropriately expanded, with additional Chinese translations added for certain vocabulary items.
