"The Dao" is "independent and unchanging, ever-moving and undiminished," meaning it operates continuously, cycles endlessly, and never stops. "The heavens and earth cannot last long, let alone humans?" Heaven and earth cannot endure for long, and human life is even more fleeting. He also used examples to illustrate this, saying that the earth-shattering hurricane does not last for a morning, and the torrential rain does not fall continuously all day. Everything is in a state of development and change, with birth and death accompanying each other, and youth and old age following one after another.
