Newborn disease screening phe shows null?

Patient's question:

My baby is fine in all other aspects, but this one shows null for newborn disease screening. The doctor hasn't called to inquire about it either. I don't know what's going on. Hello, what does "phenull" mean in newborn disease screening? Should I ask the doctor about it?

Doctor's answer:

Newborn disease screening mainly includes screening for hypothyroidism, phenylketonuria, and screening for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. If Phe is null, the phenylalanine screening may be ineffective. This situation does not necessarily mean that the phenylalanine screening is negative, as it could be due to operational or other reasons. If the phenylalanine screening is ineffective, specific circumstances can be consulted with the hospital conducting the screening.
