Features: Most of the journalists in Exclusive News are frauds. They falsify expenses, play tricks to hide news and report first, make up news when they can't find any to deceive the newspaper and readers, and spread great lies for promotion. They use testimonies from mentally unstable suspects, grasp at straws, engage in sarcastic and inflammatory false reporting. The novelist John Boot wants to go to Istambul, which is about to go to war, as a journalist, and asks Mrs. Stitch to help him meet Lord Copper, the media magnate. But Lord Copper's people mix up names and find a country amateur writer, William Boot. So this unwilling rustic goes to Istambul with the other journalists. After a series of twists and turns, he learns the truth behind the "civil war," exposes his fellow journalists' lies, and sends back a sensational exclusive news. The newspaper that has already fired him immediately treats him differently, and upon his return to London, he returns as a triumphant hero and is ennobled. But William would rather return to the countryside for a peaceful life, so his uncle takes him to the welcome banquet, and the peerage is given to John Boot.
