This can be understood as reading while traveling, with mountains and rivers reflecting books, making it easier to comprehend and verify; it can also be understood as books scattered everywhere, requiring one to travel ten thousand miles to search for them; or it can be interpreted as scholars, like knights-errants, needing to roam the world to achieve the spirit and realm of great scholars.
