Is it effective to use a spray for a baby with hand, foot, and mouth disease?

Patient's question:

On the evening of December 27th, the baby got hand, foot, and mouth disease for one week. Now the blisters have increased significantly compared to the beginning. The hospital didn't prescribe much medicine, just an aerosol.

Doctor's answer:

If a child has hand, foot, and mouth disease, it is an acute viral infectious disease caused by a virus. Antiviral medications can be taken, or intravenous fluids can be administered. Generally, there is no significant low fever, or complications such as viral pneumonia or viral myocarditis, then it is not a serious issue. Most cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease are self-limiting and will recover on their own. The severity of the blisters does not necessarily correlate with the severity of the illness.
