What are the symptoms of angle-closure glaucoma?

Patient's question:

In the past two days, I've been feeling particularly painful eyes, and my vision has also increased significantly. I've also been feeling nauseous and like I want to vomit. I've consulted a few times—is this a symptom of acute angle-closure glaucoma? What other symptoms are there besides acute angle-closure glaucoma?

Doctor's answer:

In most cases, patients with angle-closure glaucoma experience severe eye pain and headache on the same side. They often experience nausea, dry heaving, and sometimes accompanied by feverish chills, constipation, and vomiting. During acute recurrence, intraocular pressure rises suddenly again. Generally, it is above 5.20 kPa (40 mmHg), and in severe cases, it can reach above 13.4 kPa (100 mmHg). For such cases, if not treated promptly, deafness can be triggered within 24~48 hours, which is sometimes referred to as acute glaucoma.
