Features: New Poetry, which has already had a history of over seventy years. People grow old, but poetry never does; it never ages but only grows and matures. The seventy years of glory are also seventy years of difficulties and twists. The history of seventy years is, after all, written by the works of new poetry, not something that can be explained by arguments alone. The New Poetry Movement must inevitably give rise to its representative figures. Although not every poet can become the representative of their own era, as long as their works have had an influence, they always represent a corner of the world where poetry exists. Not everything that exists is reasonable. To understand and study New Poetry, one cannot help but face those existences. "The road," as it is said, "is blazed out from where there was no road, and it is opened up from where there were only thorns." Thus, there are pioneers who blaze the trail, as well as passersby who traverse it. There are grand roads that stretch in all directions, and one can see the traces to know why the road exists. History does not turn back, and the past is not just the past. The characteristics and unique features they exhibited in a certain time and space will not vanish in the flow of historical rivers but will rise and fall like waves, appear and disappear, soar and dip. Literary history can divide it into periods and generations, classify schools and discuss art, but the development of poetic forms is always interconnected, evolving and inheriting. Its glory and painful lessons continue to inspire later generations to carry forward and innovate, guiding countless mountain streams seeking a path to find their direction in the vast river flowing eastward. History is an undeniable existence; the history of poetry is a history of creation and development. To give it a scientific understanding is both our right and our obligation. The Treasury of Chinese New Poetry strives to be objective but not objectivist. It systematically introduces the works of poets who have had different influences and styles in the New Poetry Movement, who can now be collected and compiled with a certain number of their works. The selected works are either readable or have research and reference value. Before a complete history of New Poetry is written, readers can fully and should read a living, tangible, and thought-provoking history of New Poetry from the representative works of New Poetry after the May Fourth Movement.
