Can hepatitis B virus carriers have children?

Patient's question:

My husband is a carrier of the hepatitis B virus but has normal liver function. Can we have children? Will the child be infected?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, hepatitis B is mainly transmitted through mother-to-child transmission. If the woman is healthy, she can have children.
Advice: It is recommended to administer 1ml of HBIG intramuscularly at 6 hours and one month after birth, and to inject 30 micrograms of hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours of birth. At one month and six months, injections of 10 micrograms should be given respectively. The effective protection rate reaches 95%.
