Features: This book is the teacher's manual for Advanced English Reading, Writing, and Translation. It includes reference translations, background knowledge, analysis of difficulties, and exercise answers for each text, designed for teachers' preparation. This textbook is intended for non-English major graduate students for one year or one semester. It focuses on cultivating students' reading, writing, and translation skills. The book consists of 16 units, each primarily composed of eight parts: pre-reading questions, text, vocabulary, phrases, notes, exercises, practical skills, and skill practice exercises. Some units also include additional content.
Each text is followed by five types of exercises: reading comprehension, vocabulary, cloze, translation, and quick reading. Each lesson can be scheduled for 4 to 6 class hours, depending on the length, difficulty of the text, and the specific circumstances of the students. Most of the texts are selected from original materials published in recent years, primarily to train students' comprehension skills. Students are required to preview the material before class and review it afterward, achieving full understanding with the help of their teachers.
The post-class exercises closely align with the Teaching Syllabus for Graduate English for non-English majors. They are designed in the same format as the Beijing Graduate English Unified Examination. At the end of the textbook, there is an English Roots and Affixes chart, which helps students master common roots, prefixes, and suffixes, thereby expanding their vocabulary and aiding in solving unknown words during reading.
All exercises are carefully designed to emphasize practical application while aligning with the teaching syllabus. The content is rich, diverse in format, and appropriately challenging. Teachers can use them as needed based on specific circumstances.
