For this revision, we fully adopted the suggestions and opinions of readers, revised it based on the New Vocabulary List for College English Teaching Program issued by the Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as The Program), as well as the trends of changes in the College English Test Band 4 and Band 6, while preserving the essence of the original book, enriching its content, and improving its format, making the book more distinctive:
Comprehensive – More Comprehensive Content:
The book includes a comprehensive collection of all words, phrases in The Program, and some extra-curricular words. It provides detailed explanations of words, marking countable nouns (C) and uncountable nouns (U), irregular plural nouns, past forms and past participles of irregular verbs, and adding synonyms and antonyms under the definitions to facilitate memory consolidation. Detailed explanations are provided on word usage, collocations, and differentiation. New and abundant example sentences are added under familiar words with unfamiliar meanings, difficult words, and all phrases, including many famous quotes, excellent sentences, and proverbs, to leverage contextual memory, enabling readers not only to memorize but also to use the words effectively. In summary, we strive to achieve comprehensive accuracy and meticulous detail.
At the strong request of many readers, this revision is accompanied by an audio tape version and an MP3 version to meet the needs of readers at all levels. The recording includes nearly a thousand sentences of words and spoken examples (marked before each sentence), read by professional American native speakers with clear pronunciation. This allows readers to memorize while listening, combining reading and listening to improve vocabulary and listening/speaking skills simultaneously.
