Features: This book follows the development of poetic themes and subjects as its thread, primarily conducting a preliminary review of the academic history of several important poetic themes from pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty poetry since the 20th century. It includes studies on historical poems, poems of homesickness, poems of spring and autumn sorrow, political poems, poems of parting love, pastoral poems, landscape poems, frontier poems, love poems, poems of climbing heights, poems of praising heroes, poems of the Qixi Festival, and thematic research on the moon image, among others. The academic history tracing of some chapters extends to the Tang Dynasty and beyond, touching upon the research on related poems since the Song and Yuan dynasties. However, the main focus of the book remains on the research achievements of pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty poetry. The relevant research discussed in the book mostly ends in 2005, with a few chapters also including some results from 2006. Through this review, we have gained a clearer understanding of the research history and current state of these related topics. This is necessary for the next phase of research, and we sincerely hope that it will be beneficial to the study of pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty poetry.
