How to handle it when my baby doesn't sleep well?

Patient's question:

A child has been waking up at 4:00 a.m. for more than two months and not sleeping, playing instead.
First additional information: The child sleeps for over two hours during the day and is in good spirits.
Second additional information: The child is otherwise normal; he wakes up at 4:00 a.m. every day, plays for 1–2 hours, and then sleeps until 8–9 a.m. His appetite and spirits are good.

Doctor's answer:

The baby doesn't sleep soundly at night and cries. The reasons are:
1. Lack of trace elements, reduced blood calcium leading to increased excitability of the brain and vegetative nervous system, causing the baby to sleep restlessly at night. Calcium and vitamin D need to be supplemented. If the baby is calcium-deficient, the fontanelles may not close properly; if zinc is deficient, the corners of the mouth are often cracked.
2. Too hot or too cold
3. Too dry, with nasal mucus
4. Too excited before sleep, go to sleep on time: 0.5 to 1 hour before the baby goes to sleep, they should be calmed down. Avoid playing too excitedly before bed and overstimulating the baby. Watching stimulating TV shows, telling scary stories, or playing with new toys before bed should be avoided. Create a good sleep environment for the baby. The room temperature should be comfortable, quiet, and dimly lit. The bedding should be light, soft, and dry. The baby should be made to urinate before bed.
