Features: This book collects numerous outstanding prose works by Wang Zengqi, including "Spring and Autumn of Plants," "Food in All Directions," "Finding Joy in Simplicity," and "Seven Years of Cloudy Mist." He was a writer who paid great attention to the art of language, pursuing a style that was plain yet flavorful, often tinged with subtle humor. Amidst simplicity and naturalness, he occasionally revealed elegance and grace, demonstrating profound cultural refinement and linguistic prowess. Tracing the footsteps of modern Chinese prose in the 20th century, whether it was the early "Yushi Faction" or "Lunyu Faction," the "Ice Heart" style praising maternal love, Xu Zhimo's "Wild Horse Running" prose, or the once-revered classics by Yang Shuo, Qin Mu, and Liu Baiyu, or even Yu Guangzhong on the other side of the strait who aspired to "cut off the (braid)" of prose, or the recent "grand cultural prose" and "little woman prose," at least in one aspect they were consistent: "I write with my own hand, I speak with my own mouth." Regardless of the "literary style," whether it was the rigid critique of politics in essays or the overly sentimental, melodramatic prose that lacked genuine emotion, or the mournful, tearful prose triggered by scenery and emotions, prose, to some extent, can serve as a sanctuary for the soul or a refuge for the spirit. Art is independent, and prose must be individualistic. The title "Chasing Wherever Life Takes You" charm. Wang Zengqi turned the suffering of being mistakenly labeled a rightist into "a great fortune," because during his down-and-out period, he "gained a firsthand understanding of how labor is a heavy burden." After having his rightist label removed, he returned to his institute and became "the person in the country who has tasted the most potato varieties." That was how he embraced life's twists and turns! He wanted to invite readers to take a leisurely break in his tranquil literary paradise, only to find a life full of flavors and diverse colors before them. Wang Zengqi blended the aesthetic tendencies represented by Shen Congwen and Fei Mu, known as the "Beiping Faction," subtly permeating his novels and prose. Reading his works feels like leisurely savoring a fragrant cup of tea after a busy day.
