Features: This book is a collection of teacher reports written since 2001, initially disseminated through newspapers and later through the internet, gradually entering the of many teachers. Some of these reports also became hot topics among readers. But this is not due to any charm of my own; rather, it is the teachers who have too many inspiring and learnable aspects. During the editing process, based on the different focuses of the articles, the book is divided into four parts.
Part 1 features six teachers who are boldly reforming the frontiers of classroom teaching. Among them, Han Jun teacher’s profound cultural background and daring reforms in Chinese education are strikingly complementary. Han Xing’e teacher directs her reform efforts directly at the textbooks, completing an entire Chinese language textbook in two weeks, "extensively" expanding the teaching content, and forming a unique "class-based" curriculum with distinctive charm. Zhang Xiaomei teacher takes the "broad Chinese language teaching circle" as a research topic, openly advocating "Red Studies" in the classroom, accompanied by her "alternative" thinking and actions, making her classroom embody a rare "rebellious" spirit. Liu Jianyu teacher’s restructuring of the mathematics textbook and reforms in classroom teaching carry a legendary and poetic flavor. Shen Hongqi’s magnanimity and depth become the spiritual support for his teaching reforms. After his unique thinking and actions, he naturally developed his own teaching style. Su Jing teacher is undoubtedly a rising star in China’s education today, rising from an obscure primary school teacher to become a widely education reform celebrity.
Part 2 reports on four teachers with considerable prominence in China’s education. The main content of the reports focuses on their ingenious and dedicated work as class teachers. Zhang Wanshang teacher embodies the virtues of traditional Chinese culture, but he does not rigidly adhere to them; instead, he integrates them organically with modern life, performing various feats of brilliance in his class teacher work. Li Zhenxi teacher emphasizes the modern and the future, aiming to cultivate modern citizens for future society, and is performing another kind of brilliance. Hou Xiping teacher upholds the virtues of truth, goodness, and beauty, and conducts class teacher work based on Tao Xingzhi’s advocacy of "learning to be a real person," allowing readers to see the painstaking efforts of a class teacher in cultivating students’ personality growth. Wang Lihua teacher lacks the recklessness of some young people; instead, he has a somewhat mature demeanor of a teenager. Yet his genuine connection with his students makes him radiate a charming human light.
Part 3 features four teachers who are "" on the arduous path of education, walking without complaint. Zhang Guangxiang teacher year after year walks through nearly untouched mountain wilderness, yet he shoulders the heavy responsibility of shaping the souls of the mountains. Yang Tongjie teacher’s spirit of scientific exploration, which brought him close to death but without regret, not only made him fruitful but also accumulated a huge spiritual wealth. The young teacher Xiaoman emerged unexpectedly from the "Education Online" platform, but her beautiful mindset and persistent pursuit form the essence of a brilliant life for an ordinary teacher. Xiang Longhu teacher, on this sacred land of Tibet, uses his sacred emotions to compose a beautiful symphony of Sino-Tibetan friendship.
Part 4 includes reports on experts and scholars. Professor Zhu Yongxin’s beautiful educational ideals are built upon beautiful beliefs. His series of educational innovation actions are driven by this ideal and belief, leading him to a state of self-awareness. Professor Tu Weiming is a Confucian master in the world today. He conveys to us the vastness and depth of Confucian culture and the urgency of learning it. Professor Yan Binggang’s pursuit of the original texts of Confucian culture and his unwavering commitment to education in the face of the materialistic tide of the market economy alone preserves a touch of self-satisfied elegance. Professor Xiao Chuan is modern, and his heartfelt, authentic calls for life education resonate deeply. Professor Kong Fanjin is a cultural master of the modern era. From him, we see not only thoughts and wisdom but also the spirit of "born of adversity" and the courage to leave official positions. Professor Wang Caigui travels across the world for children’s classic reading, and over a thousand lectures have inspired countless listeners to develop an enthusiasm for learning traditional Chinese classics.
As the book is about to be published, I reflect and feel overwhelmed with emotion. I hope that the ideas and actions of these teachers in the book can inspire readers to pursue truth, goodness, and beauty, and together create an ideal realm full of these virtues.
