Features: This course provides a detailed introduction to the fundamental knowledge of decorative materials that architects must master (such as the characteristics and specifications of commonly used decorative materials). Through the analysis of practical operation diagrams, it explains basic construction methods (including detailing, finishing techniques, and material bonding). However, the update speed of decorative materials is very fast, with new materials constantly emerging, and the variety of materials and construction methods is diverse. Through studying this course, we cannot become familiar with all building materials and decorative materials, as well as their chemical compositions and production processes. Here, we focus on key points, elaborating only on some regular and universal knowledge to give a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the subject, allowing everyone to grasp its principles easily, apply them flexibly, and learn how to use certain materials and construction methods to realize their design creativity. Decorative Materials and Construction is not a design manual but a foundational, comprehensive, and highly practical teaching book. Regarding the coordination between material construction and form, only guiding hints are provided here. To truly master the application of materials in architectural decoration, we still need to practice more in actual work and accumulate experience.
