Summary: The universe is vast, the world's path is long, yet human life is short. Decades of time, like the morning star and the ephemeral flower, fade away in the blink of an eye. The brevity of life becomes a timeless lament that sways through the history of human hearts. Where do we come from? Where are we going? These questions have long been a perpetual theme for peoples living in various cultural environments, pondering the mysteries of existence.
In the Naxi Kingdom, nestled in the Hengduan Mountains of northwestern Yunnan, China, they created the "only living hieroglyphic script in the world." With it, they recorded the "soul path" of their lives, a journey of mystical reconnection with nature. On a magnificent 10-meter-long sheet of white hemp cloth, they depicted a divine religious labyrinth—the "Spirit Road Map," a path that blends Indian pre-Buddhist culture, Tibetan Buddhist culture, Han culture, and the indigenous Dongba culture of the Naxi people into a "long road of the dying."
Beyond this soul path, the lovers of this "city of suicidal love" also have their own extraordinary and romantic "soul paths" and destinations for life. This book invites the reader to embark on a journey along the soul path of the Naxi people in the vast mortal world, to experience the wondrous and mysterious culture of death and rebirth of this snow-covered ethnic group in "Yunnan of the Clouds." It allows one to encounter the songs and sorrows of different ethnic groups, the poignant and melancholic bewilderment people feel when facing death, like a cold moon, and the extraordinary thoughts that flicker like shifting clouds, as well as the sudden enlightenment in the heart when the mind, like a ray of sunlight, flashes into a deep gorge.
