Mishu and Chinese Culture

Features: To promote and advocate the study of 20th-century French literature, we had the intention several years ago to establish a series of literary collections within the scope of the China-France Literary Studies Association. However, due to the significant difficulties in academic publishing in recent years, this intention has remained unrealized. Driven by enthusiasm for Sino-French literary exchange, the Cultural Section of the French Embassy in China, after heavily sponsoring the publication of the "20th-Century French Literature" series, further supported this project, enabling its realization. As 20th-century French literature seems on the verge of completing its entire journey and presenting its image and style to the world as a whole, the Chinese people, who only truly opened their eyes to the outside world after the reform and opening-up, will undoubtedly be amazed to see that its uniqueness, richness, and brilliance seem no less than that of 19th-century literature, which has long been regarded as an unattainable peak. Its worldwide influence as the cradle of multiple new trends and schools of thought is a well-known and evident fact. This book primarily covers self-portraits in retrospect, biographical sketches, an overview of works, characteristics, "The Barbarian's Journey to China," "The Journey of Identity," "Linear Writing," "Echoes of Opera," "The Spirit in Poetry," "Zen in Poetry," "The Enlightenment of Chinese Characters," "Tending Towards the Void and the Dao," and an appendix featuring selected poems and articles related to Michel de Montaigne and Chinese culture.
