Features: New media art is a new discipline category of art based on optical and electronic media. It has long become a fundamental subject in major art academies abroad and has now become the mainstream course in visual art education. It is also the primary form of works in major art exhibitions and events. In May 2001, the China Academy of Art first established a New Media Art Center, initiating research and preparation to establish a New Media Art Department. Many other art institutions and schools with art-related departments have recognized the urgency of new media art education and have been preparing to offer courses in new media art. However, when it comes to teaching new media art, especially the teaching of static images (photography) in new media art, there are still no truly suitable textbooks for this field. The reality is that there are countless books and textbooks on photography techniques, yet few focus on visual psychology, photographic expression, or other related studies. There are no textbooks specifically designed for new media art photography teaching or related subjects.
This book was written based on the author's creative practice and teaching experience in new media art. It also incorporates the exploration and practical experience from the photography teaching of the New Media Art Department at the China Academy of Art in recent years. Additionally, it draws on some course methods from photography art teaching abroad to establish a curriculum model that prioritizes creativity, emphasizes the study of visual, psychological, and expressive characteristics of photography.
The book is structured in the form of tutorials and unit courses, serving as the main reference textbook for photography in the New Media Art Department at the China Academy of Art. It is also intended for use in photography teaching at other institutions and as a reference for amateur photography art enthusiasts.
