Features: The role of the service industry in China's economic and social development has become increasingly prominent. The Party Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the development of the service industry. The report of the 16th National Congress proposed that the service industry should be fully developed, and the 11th Five-Year Plan further emphasized broadening the scope of the service industry, expanding its scale, optimizing its structure, enhancing its functions, and regulating its market. These have put clear requirements on the development of the service industry. Currently, the development level of China's service industry is still relatively low, mainly manifested in the relatively small proportion of the service industry in the national economy, prominent structural contradictions, low efficiency and quality of service industries, and weak service functions, among other issues. In recent years, various sectors of society have conducted extensive research on these problems. This book is one of the "China Macroeconomics Series (2006)," primarily focusing on the problems in the development of China's service industry. It ultimately draws conclusions on the current state of China's service industry development, the understanding of increasing the proportion of the service industry, the relationship between the growth rate of the service industry and GDP growth rate, and the future orientation of the service industry development.
