Features: From the perspective of argument, this book focuses on exploring the inevitability of the characteristics of early Chinese culture from the angle of thinking and its development, as well as from the formation and changes of deep psychological structures. It also attempts to explain the uniqueness of Chinese civilization through comparisons with other civilizations. In terms of the way of grasping history, this book seeks to adopt an authentic approach to history in order to get closer to the actual state of historical circumstances. Therefore, in terms of structure, the book attempts to introduce the presentation of synchronic time into the framework of diachronic time. The overall construction of the book—the five parts—indicates a major historical process, and the arrangement of chapters within each part is naturally considered from the perspective of genesis. The discussion in each chapter is strictly adherent to the flow of diachronic time, forming a basic framework of diachronic time in the entire book through these three levels. However, chapters sometimes present a somewhat parallel arrangement (not entirely). I believe that this parallel presentation within the diachronic framework can transform the narrative style from linear to multi-linear and the perspective of observation from unidirectional to three-dimensional. Such a structural approach facilitates a comprehensive grasp in the macroscopic diachronic observation. Of course, this certain degree of parallel presentation is placed within the vertical framework, and they all converge in the riverbed of history, thus avoiding separation, isolation, and fragmented group appearances. Moreover, between parallel presentations, there is often an organic process that becomes increasingly specific. Clearly, an authentic approach to history is an integral and complex one. In this approach, there is a distinct spatiality, which manifests as the diversification and intricacy of cultural development, intertwined with the repetitiveness and winding nature of diachronic development.
