Shine Shelf -- Intellectual Time

Author: Zhou Guoping

Publish Date: 2002-12-01
Features: In the deep quiet of the night, sitting alone by the lamp, opening a favorite book, one gradually feels the hustle and bustle recede,, . Writing is after all a labor and expenditure, while reading is pure enjoyment and income. I vow to myself that from now on, I will write less and read more. How short life is, I should not treat myself unfairly. Someone asked a mountain climber why he wanted to climb Mount Everest, and the answer was: "Because it is there." Are other mountains not there? In his eyes, they indeed do not exist; he only sees the tallest mountain. Lovers of books should also have such a belief: read only the best books. Let us read the best books, because they are there. In such a era, the tranquility of literature is already an outdated custom, or—hopefully I am not too optimistic—only the privilege of a few writers who are not afraid of being outdated.
