Features: The concept of children's rights, in a broader sense, is a principle. That is, children are no different from adults as human beings, and children and adults are equal, possessing the same value, as the law grants children basic human rights; the right to survival; the right to fully develop their physical and intellectual capabilities; the right to be protected from harm that affects their development; and the right to participate in family, cultural, and social life. The State Council Women and Children's Work Commission is the highest government leadership body for children's work in China and has relevant departments at the local level across the country, possessing considerable authority in the field of children's work. Based on a social survey conducted by the office of the Women and Children's Work Commission, involving nearly 200 experts, scholars, primary and secondary school students, teachers, and thousands of public figures nationwide, this book objectively describes the understanding and attitudes of society, families, and schools toward children's rights, as well as the various harms caused to children's physical and mental well-being due to the neglect of their rights by adult society. On this basis, it proposes countermeasures for the protection of children's rights.
