History of Contemporary Chinese Literature. Selected Works (1977--1999)

Author: Hong Zi Cheng
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2002-06-01
Features:
1. This anthology was compiled to accompany the teaching of A History of Contemporary Chinese Literature. However, it can also serve as a selected collection of contemporary literary works for literary enthusiasts and general readers.
2. The works selected in this anthology span from the early 1950s to the late 1990s and are divided into two volumes, arranged consecutively as two parts. The selection of works primarily prioritizes "literary quality," but from the perspective of teaching Chinese literary history, some consideration is also given to works that reflect the value of literary trends.
3. Due to the limited length of this book, the selected works mainly consist of short poems, essays, and short stories, with some longer middle-length novels included. Some middle-length novels and dramatic works are treated as excerpts. Many important middle-length and full-length novels and dramatic works are listed as "entries" at the end of each volume.
4. For works with different publication dates and writing dates, flexible arrangements are made in the organization. The primary factor in determining the order is whether the work was read or had an impact at the time, forming a "literary phenomenon."
5. Since the literary phenomena of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other regions are not within the scope of A History of Contemporary Chinese Literature, this anthology also excludes the literary works of Taiwan during this period.
