Features: The book opens up the inner world of students from six high school sophomore classes. When Lin Fengmian served as the president of the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, he once told the students, "How can painting be touching? It's only when you pour out your bleeding heart that it becomes so." Our students have poured out their hearts. When I finished compiling their art collection, I was deeply moved by their sincere emotions. They need to express genuine feelings, sharing their views on reality, opinions on education, and attitudes toward life. This expression seems to be a long-suppressed volcano finally erupting. The expansion of inner space is the spiritual freedom achieved by balancing the contradictions and conflicts between oneself and reality, thereby relieving psychological pressure.
Removing the masks reveals the authentic inner worlds of these high school students. This is a thematic sample survey of art assignments from high school students in Beijing. Inspired by the Western concept of lifelong education for students, modern ink painter and art teacher Mr. Zhang Jin chose the title "Me and the Mask" to reflect the current feelings of high school students toward society, life, education, and their own emotions. Through a combination of text and images, it vividly portrays their experiences, allowing us not only to clearly see the specific and real state of contemporary high school students but also to understand the gap between their ideal and actual lives. At the same time, as a "realist archive of high school students' inner worlds," it provides society with an opportunity to recognize their genuine emotions and minds.
