p; During the installation of Office97, as long as some necessary selections are made, the installation program will automatically complete the installation according to the user's requirements. During the installation process, you can always click the "Exit Installation" button to exit the installation. When the user first places the Office97 CD into the CD drive, the system displays the automatic run window. There are three icon buttons in this window: the "Install Microsoft Office" button is used to start the Office97 installation program and install Office97 on the PC; the "Important Information for Upgrading Users or New Users" button is used to display important information about Office97 upgrading users and new users; the "Browse CD Contents" button is used to open the folder window and display the files and folders on the Office97 CD in that window. When the user clicks the "Install Microsoft Office" button in the automatic run window, the system enters the Office97 installation process. At this time, it requires the user to insert the installation license disk that comes with the CD to determine if it is a legitimate user. The subsequent installation process is divided into the following three steps:
(1) Detect hardware—After the installation program starts, it first initializes the system. If system errors are found, it will prompt the user to handle them before proceeding with the installation.
(2) Obtain user information—After passing the hardware detection, the system will require the input of a username, company name, and installation directory name. Subsequently, it will require the selection of the installation type. Office97 has three installation types: "Typical Installation," "Custom Installation," and "Run from CD-ROM":
① Typical installation is the most common and simplest installation method, which installs all members of the Office97 family but lacks some features, such as the inability to perform formula editor operations;
② Custom installation allows the user to select installation components from the "Office97 Components" dialog box to achieve selective installation of Office97. When the "Select All" button is clicked, all installation options can be selected at once, and such an installation will have all the features of Office97;
③ Run from CD-ROM means that only some files of Office97 are installed on the hard drive, while most of the content of Office97 is not installed. When running Office97, the startup CD must be placed in the CD drive to launch Office97 together. The advantage of this installation is that it can save a significant amount of hard drive space.
