Features: The book is divided into three parts:
Part 1, Wood Science. It consists of eight chapters, elaborating on the macroscopic and microscopic structures of wood, as well as its physical, chemical, and mechanical properties. Special emphasis is placed on the methods to improve wood quality, exploring the influence of site conditions on wood properties and methods to enhance forest tree quality, laying a theoretical foundation for studying forest utilization.
Part 2, Forest Harvesting and Timber Transport. It includes three chapters, primarily describing the process of timber production (including logging operations, timber transport, and sawmill operations), labor organization, and operational techniques. It also briefly introduces the types and performance of harvesting and transport machinery, as well as the basic theories and technical requirements for forest road design and construction.
Part 3, Processing and Utilization of Forest Products. It consists of seven chapters, focusing on the mechanical processing of wood and the chemical processing of primary and secondary forest products. In terms of mechanical processing, it introduces the concepts of simple sawing in forest areas and the production process of engineered wood products. For the chemical processing and utilization of primary and secondary forest products, it provides brief descriptions of activities such as tapping for resin, harvesting latex, wood pyrolysis, and the processing of cork and essential oils.
