Features: On December 29, 2006, the 25th session of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress passed the revised "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Minors" by a majority vote, marking a new milestone in China's work to protect minors. The current Law on the Protection of Minors was passed by the 21st session of the Standing Committee of the 7th National People's Congress on September 4, 1991. For fifteen years since its implementation, this law has played an important role in safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of minors. However, with the rapid development of China's economy and society, some new situations and issues have emerged in the work of protecting minors. The emergence of these problems requires responses and solutions from a legal and institutional perspective to further improve the legal system for the protection of minors, mobilize the enthusiasm of all parties, and better carry out the work of protecting minors. Additionally, China has joined the UN "Convention on the Rights of the Child," and the State Council has also issued the "National Plan for Child Development (2001-2010)." The spirit and some content of these documents also need to be reflected in the Law on the Protection of Minors, which are the main considerations for the revision of this law.
