Features: Since the 1980s, with the dissolution of people's communes and the comprehensive implementation and continuous improvement of rural reforms centered on household contract management, China's agricultural commodity economy and market economy have experienced rapid development. Adapting to the growth of the agricultural commodity economy and market economy, traditional agricultural circulation cooperative organizations—supply and marketing cooperatives—began to reform and transform, with a large number of new agricultural circulation cooperative organizations emerging. However, on a national scale, due to the lack of a favorable institutional environment externally (as will be detailed in Chapter 8) and the lack of effective institutional constraints internally, the overall reform and development of agricultural circulation cooperative organizations have been slow, with uneven regional development. Their role in promoting agricultural and rural economic development remains limited and far from meeting the needs of household production and business activities. Building on a thorough absorption of previous research findings and the exploration of the value of existing historical and statistical data, this book examines the economic conditions, institutional environment (including the role of government and cultural environment), internal institutional constraints, and their dialectical value and principles from the perspective of historical materialism combined with neoclassical economics and new institutional economics. It also explores the diversity of development models and organizational forms from both theoretical and practical (including international and domestic) aspects, and proposes ideas for advancing the development of China's agricultural circulation cooperative organizations. In addition to the introduction, the book follows a logical order from abstract to concrete, from general to specific, and from foreign to domestic, divided into three parts: theoretical analysis, foreign models, and domestic development, totaling eight chapters.
