Zizhi Tongjian (Bai Yong's Colloquial Version): Zizhi Tongjian is a monumental work that condenses the political movements and power struggles of ancient China. It is a must-read for ancient emperors to learn from history and govern wisely. Nine hundred years later, Mr. Bai Yong spent ten years (1983–1993) translating it into modern language, personally drawing maps, and infusing his own perspectives to discuss the causes and consequences of historical success and failure. As a result, a history book originally intended only for emperors and generals has become so accessible to readers today. The Bai Yong Version of Zizhi Tongjian was selected as Taiwan's "Most Influential Book of the Year" in 1983.
