Patient's question:
Recently, I've been experiencing chest pain and tightness in my chest. The hospital examination indicated a respiratory disease, but the medication hasn't been very effective. Recently, my cough has worsened. What does pulmonary embolism jaundice refer to?Doctor's answer:
Pulmonary embolism and jaundice are not directly related. Pulmonary embolism is a symptom caused by the formation of a thrombus in the pulmonary artery. In most cases, a pulmonary embolism needs to be diagnosed through pulmonary angiography. If jaundice is present, it usually indicates a significant decrease in bilirubin levels in liver function tests, and further examinations such as liver and bile duct ultrasound may reveal biliary obstruction. Jaundice is not caused by pulmonary embolism.
