Publishing Date: 2006-07-02
Features: In recent years, China's Japanese language education has made significant progress, with new changes in teaching philosophy. Broadening learners' international perspectives and enhancing their comprehensive ability to use foreign languages are major trends in current foreign language teaching. To promote this development further, we have referred to the "Teaching Requirements for the Second Foreign Language Course in Universities" (compiled by the Japanese Group of the University Foreign Language Teaching Guidance Committee of Higher Education Press, July 2005, edition) and the "Question Paper Standards for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (Revised Edition)" (International Exchange Foundation, Japan Foundation for International Education, February 25, 2002) to compile the "Elementary Japanese" textbook series. "Elementary Japanese" consists of two volumes, accompanied by a reference book "Teaching and Learning" and multimedia CDs. The authors are primarily teachers from China and Japan who have long been engaged in Japanese language teaching. The target users are non-Japanese major undergraduate and graduate students at universities who are learning Japanese as a second foreign language, self-taught students of higher education, learners of Japanese in various adult education institutions, and all self-learners of Japanese. Completing the first and second volumes of "Elementary Japanese" generally enables learners to reach the level of Level 3 of the "Japanese Language Proficiency Test" organized by the Japan Foundation and the Japan Foundation for International Education.
