Patient's question:
Lupus seems to be an endocrine disorder in the body. So, can lupus patients have children?Doctor's answer:
Systemic lupus erythematosus is an immune system disease, and it is generally not recommended to become pregnant, especially if there is already multi-system damage such as lupus nephritis, lupus encephalopathy, lupus pneumonia, or even hematologic abnormalities. It is still advisable not to become pregnant, as autoimmune diseases have a certain genetic predisposition. If the condition is mild and there is no recurrence of multi-system damage, and the condition has been stable for one year or more, delivery can be considered. Additionally, cytotoxic drugs and autoimmune modulators such as cyclophosphamide and methotrexate should be discontinued for more than one year before delivery.
