Is nosebleed a symptom of leukemia?

Patient's question:

In recent days, my aunt's nose has been bleeding frequently, and I'm worried it might be leukemia. Does nosebleeding indicate leukemia?

Doctor's answer:

Nosebleeds do not necessarily indicate leukemia. If the weather is dry, the nasal mucosa may become chafed. Additionally, if a patient has poor blood clotting function or a history of hypertension, they may also experience recurrent nosebleeds. If you are concerned, you can go to the hospital for a complete blood count test. If there are significant abnormalities, then leukemia should be considered as a possibility. Of course, the diagnosis of leukemia must be confirmed through bone marrow aspiration and biopsy.
