Features: With the consent of the Oil Painting Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, we have compiled this sketch collection. In addition to selecting a few works from abroad and faculty members of the Oil Painting Department, the majority of the materials are drawn from recent coursework submitted by undergraduate and graduate students of the department. The main part consists of head portraits, supplemented by some half-body and full-body portraits, as well as (partial) human figure sketches to enrich the discussion. Their overall characteristic is that they adhere to and reflect the basic operational principles of realistic sketching, demonstrating a certain level of technical proficiency. Additionally, it should be noted that considering the primary readership of this book are college students in lower grades preparing for art academy entrance exams, both the discussion and the selection of images strive to reflect this orientation: the discussion aims to be both in-depth and accessible, easy to understand yet maintaining a certain academic depth, while the image selection focuses on works with more common technical characteristics and strong demonstrative value. We believe these sketches will be of reference value to both beginners in sketching, candidates, and other readers. Compiled into this volume, it is dedicated to the readers.
