Features: The Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University was originally established as the Central Academy of Arts & Design in 1956. It boasts a complete disciplinary structure, comprehensive professional coverage, strong faculty, and well-equipped teaching and research facilities, enjoying high reputation both domestically and internationally. It holds the authority to grant doctoral and master's degrees in the first-level discipline of Arts and has established 10 departments and 24 undergraduate major directions. In 2002, Design and Art Theory was recognized as a National Key Discipline by the Ministry of Education. The Academy is home to a group of renowned art educators, artists, and scholars. Currently, it has 195 faculty members, including 54 professors (18 of whom are doctoral supervisors) and 83 associate professors. The Academy has established friendly academic exchanges with more than ten prestigious art institutions abroad and frequently invites renowned design and art experts, artists, professors, and scholars from Europe, America, Australia, Asia, and other regions to lecture at the Academy. It has granted or appointed over 30 distinguished experts and scholars from domestic and international art fields as honorary or visiting professors. The Academy offers the "Ping Shan Yu Fu Scholarship," "Zhang Ding Scholarship," "Feng Hua Scholarship," "Zhang Guangyu Art Award," "Lü Si Bai Art Design Education Fund," and faculty reward funds to inspire faculty and students to strive for excellence in the arts. For students in financial need, the Academy provides scholarships, loans, and work-study programs. Since 2000, the Academy has implemented a system where outstanding undergraduate graduates are recommended for postgraduate studies without examination, and outstanding master's graduates are recommended for doctoral studies without examination. Graduates from all generations of the Academy have been widely welcomed by society. They have made significant contributions to the economic and spiritual civilization construction of the motherland and to the prosperity and development of China's art and design industries through their work in government agencies, publishing and media, higher education institutions, cultural and artistic organizations, research institutes (centers), and related enterprises and public institutions.
