Does nephrotic syndrome in children be hereditary?

Patient's question:

Recently, I found that my waist is not well, so I went to the hospital for a thorough examination and was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome. I have a little concern: can this disease be inherited across generations? Will nephrotic syndrome be inherited across generations in children?

Doctor's answer:

Nephrotic syndrome in children is caused by various different reasons and multiple different factors, leading to increased permeability of the glomerular basement membrane, so a large amount of protein in the blood is lost through the urine. The main clinical diagnostic symptoms are:
1. Significant edema: A concave edema that starts from the eyelids and gradually progresses to the entire body.
2. Large amounts of proteinuria: The child's urine has a lot of foam.
3. Most children with nephrotic syndrome do not have significant triggers. However, about 30% of pediatric nephrotic syndrome is primarily primary, with the main inflammation being increased permeability of the glomerular basement membrane. Clinical diagnosis often manifests as a series of symptoms such as large amounts of proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, hypercholesterolemia, significant concave edema throughout the body, and abnormal renal function.
