Does acupuncture work well for neuritis?

Patient's question:

My mother has been complaining to me these days that her feet are hurting badly. Sometimes she can't even stand properly, as if being pricked by needles. Actually, I didn't pay much attention at first, but when she mentioned it more, I started to worry. Then we went to the hospital to see a doctor, who carefully examined her and diagnosed her with neuritis. The doctor suggested treating it at the hospital, but she refused to be hospitalized. Coincidentally, one of my friends owns an acupuncture clinic, so I suggested my mother go there for acupuncture. I just want to ask if acupuncture is effective for neuritis? Can it be completely cured?

Doctor's answer:

Acupuncture can treat neuritis, but the patient currently has pain primarily in this area. If acupuncture is applied to the soles of the feet, it will be extremely painful because the soles have a high concentration of nerves and ligaments, making them very sensitive. Therefore, I do not recommend using acupuncture to alleviate the pain. Oral administration of blood-activating and blood-stasis-dispelling drugs, followed by a local foot bath using some blood-activating and blood-stasis-dispelling traditional Chinese medicines, could be more suitable. Acupuncture can indeed treat neuritis, but acupuncture on the soles of the feet is very painful.
