Can right brain infarction be cured?

Patient's question:

My father fainted at home at the beginning of this year and was sent to the hospital. After treatment, he was discharged. The doctor said it was a stroke. He stayed in the hospital for a period of treatment and then discharged. Now he is recovering at home and is doing very well. I want to ask, can a right brain stroke be fully cured?

Doctor's answer:

Since neurons are non-reversible cells, they cannot fully recover after damage. After a stroke, some degree of post-stroke sequelae will remain to some extent. The treatment of sequelae in the later stage mainly focuses on functional exercise. As you mentioned, it has been almost a year now. Apart from certain sequelae, due to the prolonged duration of time, a complete recovery is highly unlikely. Therefore, the possibility of a complete cure is not very high.
