Kawasaki disease had a fever even after receiving gamma globulin

Patient's question:

Recently, I don't know why I've been feeling uncomfortable in my heart. Although I often take medication to control it, the effect is not obvious. When I went to the hospital for a check-up, they also prescribed medication. I'm asking, has Kawasaki disease been treated with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and is the fever still present?

Doctor's answer:

After the diagnosis of Kawasaki disease, the most commonly used medications are aspirin and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG). In the vast majority of children, after receiving IVIG, their body temperature rises rapidly to normal levels. We use IVIG not only to help children's body temperature return to normal quickly but also to prevent the recurrence of coronary artery disease and to alleviate the severity of coronary artery disease in children. There are also a very small number of children whose body temperature remains recurrent even after receiving IVIG. In such cases, we can consider using IVIG again.
