Is it okay to massage liver cysts?

Patient's question:

I am 38 years old. Recently, I feel that my liver is very tired. I haven't had much appetite, and at night, I always feel a sharp pain in my stomach. I went to the nearby hospital for a check-up and was told it's a liver disease. They advised me to get an injection. Can massage be used for liver cysts?

Doctor's answer:

The imaging results of the liver and gallbladder area can confirm the presence of liver cysts. Generally, if the cysts are not very large, close observation is sufficient. Massage is not entirely effective for this. Typically, the location of the liver cyst is identified, and then follow-up tests are conducted to monitor and protect against it, preventing rupture due to external force impact. If it does not affect blood circulation and does not cause infection, close observation is recommended. If the cyst is large, surgical drainage may be necessary.
